The Forest side of the river
Coleford sits at the centre of the Forest of Dean, with Puzzlewood and Clearwell Caves on its doorstep and the Speech House on the road to Cinderford. It is a proper community town, and a lot of our Forest patients live in and around it: Berry Hill, Broadwell, Milkwall, Sling, Clearwell and out towards Newland and Staunton.
At the moment the nearest independent clinic with its own consulting rooms is ours in Chepstow. That is changing. The Hearing Clinic Group plans to open in the Forest of Dean, bringing the same free hearing tests, wax removal and hearing aid advice closer to home. Until then, Coleford patients are welcome in Chepstow or at home.

Coleford does not currently have an independent audiology clinic with its own consulting rooms. The Chepstow Hearing Clinic is around 30 minutes away via the B4228, offers home visits across the Forest, and The Hearing Clinic Group plans to open a Forest of Dean clinic.
How do I get from Coleford to Chepstow?
Take the B4228 south through Clearwell, St Briavels and Hewelsfield to Tidenham, then the A48 into Chepstow. About 14 miles and 30 minutes. There is free parking outside the clinic.
Are you opening a clinic in the Forest of Dean?
Yes, a Forest of Dean clinic is on the horizon as The Hearing Clinic Group grows, alongside the Chepstow and Clevedon clinics. Register your interest by calling 01291 332211 and we will let you know when it opens.
Do you offer home visits in Coleford?

Do you do ear wax removal for Forest of Dean patients?
Yes. Microsuction and irrigation by trained clinicians at the Chepstow clinic, up to £65 for both ears with £10 off for returning patients. Soften with olive oil for three to five days first.
Is the hearing test free?
Yes. The full 60 to 90 minute hearing test is free and has no obligation attached, wherever you live.
What hearing aid brands do you fit?
All major brands, including ReSound, Starkey, Oticon, Phonak, Bernafon and Signia, chosen independently to suit your hearing, with lifetime aftercare included.
Where is the clinic and when is it open?
School Hill Centre, Chepstow, NP16 5PH, on the ground floor next to Screwfix. Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm, Friday 9am to 3pm.
Is the B4228 a good road to drive from Coleford?
Yes, it’s a well-maintained road through St Briavels and Tidenham, about 30 minutes to Chepstow. It can be slower in winter weather, so allow extra time.
Will I need to switch clinics when the Forest of Dean clinic opens?
No. Your records and any hearing aids stay with The Hearing Clinic Group, so you can simply choose whichever clinic is more convenient once it opens.
